History of the Congo Tour

Organizing an event like the Congo Tour is an idea that came originally from ARCADES (Regional Agency in Economic and Social Development and Construction ) and was made possible thanks to a few people willing to contribute to the development of sports in the Republic of the Congo through ARCADES.
The president of this organization is Mr Gislain Boungou-Boko, Bussy Saint-Georges’s director of sports and initiator of a cooperation agreement between the cities of Bussy Saint-Georges and Brazzaville.
Since the signing of this agreement, ARCADES has been working closely with Congolese Minister of Sports Serge Michel Odzocki and has submitted many project proposals. Mr. Odzocki has of course facilitated the setting up of the 2009 edition of the Congo Tour alongside Mr Maurice Maurel Kiwounzou, president of the Congolese Cycling Federation. We expect the Congo Tour to become a key event in the development of Congolese cycling and most importantly, to encourage young people to take up this sport. The President of the Republic of the Congo, Mr Denis SASSOU NGUESSO himself, is convinced that this event is a real opportunity to promote sports and peace.
A bicycle race of this scale and size should become a popular celebration and an important sports event.
Sport is a great tool of communication – as such, the Congo Tour will ensure exchanges between Congolese sportsmen, foreign sportsmen and everyone else involved in the event.
With the construction of new roads and the media coverage of such an event, the Congo Tour’s editions to come will guarantee the continued existence of Congolese cycling and the development of tourism in Congo.
The Congo Tour is a great opportunity to reveal and highlight the cities, the countryside and all of the charms of the most urbanized country of Sub-Saharan Africa.

ARCADES, your new platform of opportunities…
ARCADES (Regional Agency in Economic and Social Development and Construction) is a new platform for international affairs and employement based in Bussy. It was created in April 1999 under the name Association Bussy Soleil and was renamed ARCADES following the statutory change that came up during the last extraordinary general assembly, which took place on January 3rd.
ARCADES wishes to contribute to a dynamic globalization in favour of solidarity, and to that end, the organization supports people, companies, regional authorities and other organizations wishing to invest, export, establish themselves, work, cooperate, open sales outlets, or simply willing to give a hand in developing countries. A number of business sectors and some regions make for great economic profitability but they also need some risk management. Therefore, ARCADES commits itself to facilitating the preparation and implementation of your projects in various business sectors.
Business opportunity seminars and custom interviews
Take part in these seminars for more in-depth information about the organization’s fields of activity.
These seminars are held by ARCADES consultants who are often surrounded by representatives of their French and foreign associates as well as experts.
You may also benefit from a custom interview or intercultural coaching with one of their consultants.
Call for applications to generate international economic activity
ARCADES is open to all proposals concerning the creation of economic activity. The project initiator(s) will be trained in order to pass on competences to local collaborators.
The goal of their development strategy is to make sure the current and future generations of developing countries become autonomous by passing skills and competences onto them in a straightforward and concrete manner.
« Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. »
The principles of action:
- Canvassing companies and public authorities in order to obtain free secondhand equipment for the completion of some projects,
- Developing cooperation between countries of the North and the South for the implementation of projects that are audited each year according to the highest standards of quality and transparency.
Volunteer job offers for short-term assignments in France and abroad
ARCADES is looking for volunteers to complete various assignments such as administrative duties and partnership seeking, among others, in Bussy Saint-Georges.
They’re also looking for volunteers, senior and young, women and men, for tutoring assignments abroad. These assignments are part of the project of development involving local city and country workers.
ARCADES also organizes trips for the exchange of professional best practice tips. An organized tour in the Republic of Senegal will take place from the 5th to the 12th of November 2009.
